WE'RE HAVING ANOTHER BABY!

25/11/20

The secret is finally out and we're thrilled to announce that our family of 3 is soon to become a family of 4 (plus 2 Cats & an adopted Fish of course!).

It's been discussed on our YouTube channel the difficulties we faced after the birth of Rose, our daughter and for that reason many people asked if this was a 'surprise' pregnancy or a 'lockdown surprise' (yes - Eve fell pregnant during the Covid-19 lockdown!). The truth is that Eve wanted to jump in quickly rather than wait and let previous experience put her off. We had also always wanted our children to not have too big an age gap.

It turns out we were lucky enough to get just that, with 19 months between Rose and her sibling we're very much falling into the category of 'two under 2' - it'll be a house of complete chaos but hopefully a lot of fun too, not to mention the mess!

When trying for a baby the first time round, it all happened very quickly and we were doing the pregnancy tests together which was totally magical! This time around however, it took a little longer to fall pregnant and Eve did the test that showed positive on her own. She immediately grabbed the camera, ran downstairs and in her excitement shoved the positive test at me and filmed my reaction of 'no!...seriously?!'

We wanted to announce this pregnancy in a creative way on YouTube before sharing the 'finding out we're pregnant' vlog and, being the end of October we went down the Pumpkin/Halloween theme for the announcement.

Many of the questions on our Instagram were about whether Turbo and Jet's (our cats) behaviour had changed again, the answer is yes - both very clingy to Eve unlike last time where Jet couldn't stand the smell of her for the first 12 weeks! Who knows, maybe the different cat behaviour compared to last time indicates a boy rather than a girl? Let us know in the comments below what you think about that!

We were also asked about how the pandemic has affected this pregnancy compared to previous and quite honestly so far the only difference is that only the Mother can attend the antenatal midwife appointments. Due to a slightly unusual ovulation cycle, we had a couple of extra early scans and nuchal scans which fortunately we could both attend.

This was truly amazing! We felt so lucky to get those extra scans to see baby's growth and seeing the tiny little embryo's heart beat to the baby's movements really is such an incredible moment!

Currently, the birthing partner can only stay at the hospital for 'active labour' and 3 hours after the birth so we shall see how that changes as the 'pandemic response' continues.

Morning sickness (which seems to strike mainly in the Evenings) has been a bit more severe than with Rose and the tiredness is definitely there now having to manage a 14 month old as well! Thankfully as we approach the 20 week point - half way through, the sickness has faded away and the bump is really starting to show!

All that's left to say is that the amount of congratulations messages, comments and posts has been totally, TOTALLY overwhelming and we can't thank you enough! If you have any questions at all, please leave them in the comments section below as well as your guess for boy/girl, also - any advice for being parents of 2 children would be great!!

Thank you for all the support,

Chris & Eve x
