So today, 25th June 2018 marks the 1 year anniversary of our Wedding day! We genuinely can't believe that it's already been 12 months since we said 'I do..' (or actually, as we say in the UK, 'I will' haha). As paper is the material used to celebrate the first wedding anniversary, we thought we'd share with you some of our photographs from THE BIG DAY. We basically found our photographer by searching 'wedding photography' on Pinterest. At the time, Tanya Burr had recently got married and her photos were often coming up in the search. We loved her confetti and veil shots and, the more we looked through different wedding photos the more we realised all the ones we liked were taken by the same incredible photographer. Our wedding was shot by the amazing Dominique Bader and we COULD. NOT. BE. HAPPIER with how she captured the day! When we received the photographs after our wedding, they were presented in a beautiful canvas box wrapped in silk ribbon with a perfect 'Your Story' label attached.. stunning! Ok so here we go, just a disclaimer though... we can't put 900 photos on this blog post so we've narrowed it down to about 25. We're also conscious of not putting all our friends and family online so it's a lot of us! Let's start with the morning preparations! The boys had final preparations and pre-drinks in the local pub and the girls finished beautifying at the venue. Above: Chris putting the button hole on and adjusting the Father of the Groom's Tie. Above: Eve deciding which tiara to wear with the help of both the Mums and her Bridesmaids. Above: Mother Of The Groom joking that the dress doesn't fit haha. Above: Mother Of The Bride helping Eve put the bridal shoes on. On to the big moment, the Ceremony! We had planned to be married outdoors under a wooden arbour covered in flowers but it was forecast to rain and it was pulled inside. In hindsight we're pretty happy about that as it was a lot more intimate and it was also a little windy which would have created a few issues for the bride's veil and the guests' hats. Above: We reserved the front two rows in the ceremony for the Bridal Party & immediate family as well as the people doing the readings. Other than that we had a sign that read 'Choose a seat, not a side. We're all family once the knot is tied' and people sat where they wanted. Above: Father of the Bride walking Eve down the aisle to a string quartet playing 'Canon in D' by Pachelbel. Above: Chris' university friend doing a reading at the start of the ceremony. Above: Saying his vows and putting the wedding ring on Eve's finger. "It now gives me the greatest of pleasure to announce that from this this day forward, you are now Husband and Wife" 'You may now kiss the Bride'... Let the celebrations start! Our guests moved outside and threw the confetti high, then they had a drinks & canapés reception whilst we headed off for some photographs! Above: The bridesmaid's and Bride's Bouquets - filled with Peonies, Roses, Hydrangeas, Eucalyptus and Gypsophila and bound with Satin Ribbon. Eve's bouquet also included Asparagus Fern, a nod to her New Zealand Heritage and the ribbon was longer on the bridal bouquet. Above: You can't tell but for these photos Eve changed in to Wellington Boots and we worked our way around the cow poop to a nice spot in the field haha! Above: We were told we had finished the photos when the sun suddenly came out from behind a cloud and the photographer shouted 'WAIT WAIT' and snapped these two! For the drinks reception we offered our guests either an Elderbubble cocktail (Elderflower Cordial and Prosecco) or an Elderflower soft drink. These were all in Champagne flutes with a raspberry floating in the top! The canapés were our favourite foods - Mini Ice creams, Miniature Chicken burgers, Salmon Skewers, Steak lollipops, Tempura Prawns and Risotto cones... Delicious! We then all moved into the Dining Hall for the Wedding Breakfast - a 3 course meal followed by the speeches! To mix is up a bit, one person from each table had to go collect a huge fruit pavlova desert from the kitchen (another nod to Eve's New Zealand heritage) and carve out slices for everyone at the table! It broke up the formality a gave everyone something to laugh at! Above: We had 16 Silver Birch Trees bought in to the venue for our wedding to line the halls to enhance the height of the ceiling. Above: We rented copper cutlery to tie into our Blush and Rose Gold theme. The place cards were rose gold foil names on Ivory coloured card, tied to a sprig of Eucalyptus with ivory ribbon and placed on blush coloured napkins. On the left you can just make out our wedding favours, a Turbo or Jet themed Macaron! Above: Our wedding cake table! We had a blush ombré Macaron Tower of different flavours - Lemon, White Chocolate or Raspberry. Our wedding cake had 5 tiers - Chocolate Sponge, Lemon Sponge, Carrot Cake, Vanilla Sponge and Fruit Cake. There was a secret Marzipan 'Turbo and Jet' on the back of the cake! After the Wedding Breakfast, we had a few more photos before having the 'First Dance' and then partied the night away! We also drove away in Eve's Dad's Mini Moke which was a really cool touch and fun to go for a spin in! After receiving our photographs (about 900!) we had to whittle it down approx 120 to choose to go into an album. That was SERIOUSLY difficult, but SO WORTH it haha. What a lovely problem to have - too many nice photos of your wedding! We managed it after a few weeks of deliberating and our album has now arrived. It's one our most prized possessions! Here's a little glimpse of what it looks like :) So there you have it, a little glimpse in our big day! We hope you enjoyed seeing a bit more of our wedding! If planning your own special day then we couldn't recommend Dominique more highly! She was simply fantastic and knew exactly how to handle us, the guests (including the kids!) and we're so over the moon with our photographs. What could be more perfect to look back on the day? Thanks for reading :) comment down below which images are your favourites and which ones you think we should enlarge and frame! x
