NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS!
HAPPY NEW YEAR all you lovely people! What an incredible year 2018 was! We feel very lucky to have had the experiences we did in 2018, from the people we met, home improvements, the travels and being nominated for a UK Blog Award... we're certainly feeling thankful, so here's to another great year and thank you so very much for all the support! x
Last year we made New Years Resolutions however they always seem like rules that you MUST stick too or break and give up - not really conducive to the whole idea! So for that reason, we've decided to have a few goals for 2019 that we though we would share with you!
Living a more Plant Based Lifestyle
You all know how much I care for animals, not just Turbo and Jet but all animals in general. It's for that reason that I would like to do my best to live a plant based lifestyle. Without sounding 'preachy' I just don't think I can personally justify the sometimes-poor treatment and killing of animals for my own benefit when there are now so many great alternatives. So other than the obvious (cutting out of meat in my diet) I will also do my best to use dairy alternatives, purchase products that aren't tested on animals or made of animal based materials such as leather. Of course, we're not millionaires and I can't simply buy a new wardrobe etc and I'm sure you're aware that a lot of the make up I use or accessories I own contain animals products (handbags etc). I'm not going to just throw out all of those items... instead, as those products age and wear-out I will simply replace with vegan-friendly products. Wish me luck!
Something I struggle with is my sleep patterns. Some of you may know that I suffer from severe intrusive Tinitus, for this reason I do struggle to sleep and often find myself exhausted. For the same reason I also I find it very easy to stay up late and put off going to bed as that's the quietest time of the day, therefore the loudest for tinitus, a bit of a vicious circle. I'm working on the tinitus thing by using Bose Sleep Buds but something I really want to work on this year is getting into better sleeping habits.
This isn't something that needs a major overhaul with us, but I want to make sure I'm always on top of household organisation. Knowing when bills need to be paid in advance, staying on top of accounts and banking and not relying on our neighbours to 'put the bins out'! I'd like to have a diary that covers all aspects of home and work life that I can refer to each day and by the end of the year be in the habit of using it on a daily basis.
Sugar + Plastic
Something that I think we're all becoming more and more aware of is the amount of sugar we're taking in through our diet...it's also no secret that I'm a serious chocaholic! Eating too much sugar over our lives can have serious consequences, so I'd very much like to reduce the amount of sugar I intake. I don't want to make a resolution to 'give up chocolate' but I would like to actively reduce my sugar intake not just through sweets but also through processed foods - let's see how I get on!
On a similar note, I would like to reduce the amount of plastic and one-use plastics we use in our house. We already use 'bag for life' but having seen first hand on our travels the amount of plastic in our oceans I would very much to like to reduce the amount of plastic that we throw out or even use in the first place. I've already started this by using stainless steel straws and reusable vegetable shopping bags.
Having only started this blog in 2018, I've actually really taken to writing these posts and putting them out to the world! I'm very much enjoying the blog-writing aspect of our website and would like to create more posts on a variety of topics throughout the year. On the same note, a side-effect of producing the videos on our YouTube channel is that I've gained a genuine passion for creative editing of video. I'd like to spend more time learning new editing skills and producing videos that contain more creative aspects than the usual clip cutting and exporting.
Of course just like most people, we love love LOVE to travel! It's a big passion of ours to explore new places and certainly something that we will strive to do more of in 2019! My favourite videos to edit and watch back are the travel videos, so get ready for some more travel blog posts and YouTube videos soon! Of course this is budget dependant but I would love to travel more both in the UK and abroad. Do let us know anywhere we should visit, we currently have our eye on Edinburgh!
Ok so 'more travel' is probably a goal that should come under the 'together' title...my bad! A big goal for 2019 though for the both of us involves Turbo & Jet!
One of our biggest ambitions and a goal that we would LOVE to achieve in 2019 would be to either have launched or be in the process of creating our very own line of Pet Products to sell right here on chrisandeve.co.uk! We have tested out SO MANY of the products on the markets on our YouTube channel that we really feel we have an idea what works and what doesn't with our furry friends. We also feel we have an eye for what would make pet products look attractive in a modern home as most of them out there are functional yet not overly pretty!
We haven't looked into this yet and it will take a lot of research. We will also need to find designers and companies that can build the products with us so if you know anyone who may be interested then do use the contact page at the bottom of this post to get in touch!
So there you have it! Our 2019 goals! Let us know in the comment section below what goals you have for the new year and we'll see you soon in a new blog post! x
