We were invited by the BBC to attend the UK launch party for their new show 'Killing Eve'. It's not something we had planned on sharing here on the chrisandeve.co.uk but we enjoyed the show and event so much that we thought we should!
It's the first time either of us has been to an event like this, basically a Press event to drum up some excitement through traditional media as well as through bloggers and social media, so we weren't sure what to expect as we glammed up for the evening.
The launch was held at The British Academy in London, a beautiful building in St James' just off the park and right next to St James' Palace. It's everything you would imagine inside, London glamour and grandeur at its best!
We headed inside after ticking ourselves off the guest list and were greeted by a drink reception in a vast entrance hall filled with props from the Series, a press board for photographs and other guests. Eve fan-girled a little when Mark Ferris walked in and we had a really nice chat with him. He's a YouTuber if you haven't seen his videos, seemed to be a really lovely guy!
Once everyone had arrived we were swept into a screening room to be introduced to the show by lead actress Sandra Oh (who plays Eve) and the shows creative director who by the way, were hilarious! We then watched the first two episodes.
Killing Eve is a BBC Spy Thriller TV Series launching 15th September in the UK that throws a little drama, a little gore and a little humour all into the mix. Based on Novels by Luke Jennings, it features Sandra Oh as MI5 employee Eve, one of two female lead characters, the other played by Jodie Comer. Eve starts to connect a series of high profile murders together which leads to disasterous (and slightly funny) consequences to her personal life and dangerous consequences all round.
We were on the edge of our seats throughout... gripped by the fast-paced drama and yet all laughing in chorus during the entire screening. It's hard not to give away all the secrets and spoilers because we really enjoyed the show, it's the sort of thing you want to talk about with all your friends, we can't wait to watch the rest of it!
When the show had finished there was an after party featuring Live DJ sets from Abbie McCarthy, Yasmin Evans and Jamz Supanova and we were supplied with tasty little Canapés whilst we got to chat about the show. We even got to meet the actors as they mingled around the party!
We couldn't stay too long as we had commitments the next day but we really enjoyed our evening! If you're interested in watching Killing Eve, the first episode airs 15th September on BBC ONE and for those who want to binge watch, the entire boxset will be available on BBC iPlayer after the first installment has aired!
Let us know in the comments below if you're watching it and if you've already seen the show in America! No spoilers though, we're on the edge of our seats just waiting to download it!
